Jaron L.Winston, MD

For many years Dr. Winston has been interested in treating patients with mood disorders. He has utilized and recommended many treatment modalities as appropriate including psychotherapy, medications and ECT. He is very excited to be on the cutting edge by treating depressive symptoms with magnetic therapy or TMS ( Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation). This is the first treatment which is non-invasive, non-systemic and utilizes no medications. Patients should be at least 18 years of age.

For over 23 years, Austin-area patients, families, physicians, and professional caregivers have called on Jaron L. Winston, M.D., for his compassion and vast knowledge in the field of Geriatric Psychiatry. Dr. Winston graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1977. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston in 1981. He then completed a fellowship in Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, practicing both internal medicine and pediatrics. He received his post-graduate training in psychiatry at the Institute of Living in Hartford, Connecticut, and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Board-certified in Geriatric and General Psychiatry, Dr. Winston served for many years as Medical Director of Geriatric Services at St. David’s Pavilion. He often lectures and consults locally and nationally on the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and other psychiatric disorders in older adults.

Dr. Winston founded Senior Adults Specialty Healthcare, P.A., in 1997. He also has a research division which is called Senior Adults Specialty Research.  Dr. Winston and his staff are conducting clinical trials for groundbreaking new therapies for many disorders. SASR has more memory impairment research than anyone in central Texas. Dr. Winston:

  • Is skilled and seasoned at evaluating senior citizens for issues of competency, testamentary capacity, ability to stand trial, etc.
  • Is experienced and interested in offering expert testimony for all aspects of legal matters involving mental health of the aged.
  • Is also available to speak and lecture both locally and nationally on issues of Geriatric Psychiatry.

         Sharon Clark   L.V.N. - TMS Coordinator

Sharon Clark received her nursing license in 1975 from the State School of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota. She has explored and experienced many aspects of nursing through the years from hospital, clinic, nursing home and home health settings. Sharon’s nursing experience includes but is not limited to neurology, maternal/child health, geriatrics, psychiatry, and holistic medicine.

Sharon became a registered therapeutic massage therapist/instructor in the state of Texas in 1989. Under this license she has experienced various treatment modalities, the power of  aromatherapy through the use of essential oils, full awareness and appreciation of the body/mind connection, proprietor of her own business, teacher/listener. 

Sharon has lived in the Austin area for 30 years.

She attributes her success in the field to her own transformational work. She feels it is a privilege to be present for others as they move into living their own lives fully. Sharon is the coordinator for the TEXAS TMS CENTER and facilitates the actual TMS sessions.

Dr. Winston and Sharon have worked together from the ground up to create the TEXAS TMS CENTER, being the first TMS treatment center in Austin. We wish to serve whoever walks through these doors with respect, acknowledging the individual’s situation, and supporting their over-all health and well-being.
